Programmed by playwright Hannie Rayson (Hotel SorentoInheritance) the Yarra Valley Writers Festival presents contemporary authors including Alice Bishop (A Constant Hum), Clare Bowditch (Your Own Kind of Girl), Tony Birch(The White Girl), Mark Brandi (The Rip), Garry Disher (Peace), Chris Flynn (Mammoth), Robert Gott (The Autumn Murders),Helen Garner (Yellow Notebook), Vicki Hastrich (Night Fishing), Meg Mundell (The Trespassers), Debra Oswald (The Whole Bright Year),  Alice Pung (Close to Home), Angela Savage (Mother of Pearl), Jock Serong (Preservation), Christos Tsiolkas (Damascus), Donna Ward (She I Dare Not Name), David Williamson (Don’s Party), Charlotte Wood (The Weekend) and more!

Festival Programmer Hannie Rayson said that this is a weekend for readers, thinkers and wine lovers.

‘’You’ll meet over 30 of our finest writers, and join in the great contest of ideas for which Australia is hungering. More and more, we live in a world of mirrors where all we see is our own ideas reflected back to us.

In this festival, we’ll come face to face with writers who are prepared to challenge, enlarge and humanise our experience of the world,” said Hannie.

Taking place in Healesville, Victoria from 2-13 May, the Yarra Valley Writers Festival will feature talks, lunches, workshops and special events, with the main weekend event happening from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 May (Mother’s Day).
