World Premiere for Melbourne at the Princess Theatre in May 2012.

Moonshadow, a new musical by Yusuf / Cat Stevens featuring his amazing songs, will make its World Premiere at the Princess Theatre this May 2012.

Embarking as a young singer-songwriter in the sixties and with 60 million records sold worldwide, Cat Stevens (Yusuf Islam) has enjoyed one of the most unique careers in pop music history.  With an incredible fan base and such a broad appeal, the prospect of a new musical conceived by him and spanning his amazing catalogue is a dream come true.

Since an early age Cat Stevens harboured an ambition to write a musical but having ended up as a pop star for many years, this idea had remained at the back of his mind, until now.  He has always had the ability to write music and lyrics that tell a story and now he weaves all these small stories together into one production.

Featuring 40 fabulous songs by Cat Stevens such as ‘Father and Son’, ‘Wild World’, ‘Can’t Keep It In’, ‘First Cut Is The Deepest’, 'Oh Very Young' and of course ‘Moonshadow’ and also some great new songs, this show is set to take Melbourne by storm.

Featuring an all-Australian cast of 27 and based in a setting that is an extraordinary blend of animation, fantastic sets and stunning costumes it is a must-see for Cat Stevens fans and musical theatre lovers alike!
