Moulin Rouge! the Musical in development
Baz Luhrmann’s film; Moulin Rouge! Is in development for the stage. With a book written by John Logan and the musical directed by Alex Timbers; a production time- line and opening venue will be announced at a later date.

Muriel’s Wedding the Musical
On Thursday, September 8th; the Sydney Theatre Company announced that iconic 90s film Muriel’s Wedding will debut on the Australian stage in November 2017. Tickets go on sale on Monday, March 13, 2017.

My Fair Lady- Sydney Opening Night
On Tuesday, September 6th; the Australian production of My Fair Lady opened at the Sydney Opera House. Directed by Julie Andrews, the show is due to tour Brisbane and Melbourne in 2017.

Ashlea Pyke gives birth to baby girl

Australian theatre performer Ashlea Pyke (Legally Blonde, Rocky Horror Show) has given birth to a baby girl, Goldie. Born on August 26th; mother and baby are doing well.

Tim Minchin’s documentary; Matilda and Me will air on UK channel Sky Arts on Tuesday, September 13th at 9:00pm UK Time.

So Long, Farewell, Jacqui Dark

The company of the Sound of Music have bid adieu to Jacqui Dark who has played Mother Abbess in the Australian company since the show opened in Sydney in December 2015. She leaves the show to rehearse for Opera Australia’s upcoming production of The Ring Cycle. The role of Mother Abbess in Perth will be played by Johanna Allen.  Jennifer Peers (Fiddler on the Roof, Mary Poppins Australia/ NZ tour) has joined the company as Sister Sophia.
