Sydney! The Mormons are coming!
There has been much excitement and speculation for Sydney audiences when The Book of Mormon posters were discovered at bus stops and other public venues. Brigadoon – Full Cast Announcement
Friday, September 1st saw the announcement of the full cast of The Production Company’s third show of the year Brigadoon.
Rohan Browne (Singin’ in the Rain, Strictly Ballroom) and Luke Joslin (Georgy Girl, Les Miserables) play American tourists Tommy and Jeff who travel to the Scottish Highlands on vacation. They find themselves lost while trying to make their way back to their inn and begin to hear music coming from a nearby village that doesn’t appear on their map. The village is Brigadoon, a mythical village that appears one day every one hundred years.
Tommy despite having a fiancé back home in New York falls in love with Fiona (Genevieve Kingsford) a young woman from Brigadoon. Tommy soon learns that to fall in love means staying forever.

The ensemble members are Adele Parkinson, Emma Clark, Karla Tonkich, Nelson Gardner, Andrew Kroenert, Jensen Overend, Embla Bishop, Ella Burns, Patrick Cook, Zack Curran, Courtney Glass, Sam Marks, Scott McConnell, Belinda Hanne Reid, Caitlin Spears, Mike Snell, Blake Testro, Romina Villafranca and CJ Joy.
Brigadoon will play at Melbourne’s State Theatre from October 28th to November 5th for 11 performances only.

Grease – new cast members announced
After hit seasons in Brisbane and Newcastle, Grease – The Arena Experience has announced new cast members ahead of their Adelaide and Sydney seasons.
Joining as Johnny Casino for Adelaide (October 2017) and Sydney (January 2018) is X-Factor winner and Australian Eurovision contestant Isaiah Firebrace. In Sydney, Firebrace will be joined by international drag superstar Courtney Act as Teen Angel and NRL Footy Show larrikin Beau Ryan as DJ Vince Fontaine.

The Bodyguard – Opening Night
August 29th saw The Bodyguard open at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre ahead of their two month season. Leading the cast as Rachel Marron is Paulini, alongside Prinnie Stevens who plays her sister Nicki and Kip Gamblin as Frank Farmer.

[Title of Show] – Opening Night
September 1st saw Understudy Production’s musical [Title of Show] open at Brisbane’s Hayward Street Studios ahead of their short season which finishes on September 10th.
The show about two struggling writers who decide to put everything on the line when they create a show for the New York Musical Theatre Festival. Jackson McGovern, Alexander Woodward, Lauren McKenna and Aurélie Roque play a range of character throughout the 90 minute production.

Monday, August 28th saw the coming together of some of Australia’s finest musical theatre performers for the August edition of Melbourne’s Broadway Unplugged at The Toff in Town.

The Things I Could Never Tell Steven
New Australian Musical The Things I Could Never Tell Steven plays at Sydney’s New Theatre from September 15th to 18th, 2017.
The show tells the story of Steven and although we never meet him we learn all about him from the point of view of his Wife, Mother, Father and Ex.
They share intimate details about their life with Steven and the things they struggle to tell him. We also learn that Steven himself has secrets, secrets that will damage the relationships in his life.
The cast includes Matilda Moran (Atlantis) as his wife, Ruth Strutt (Opera Australia’s El Kid) Lucas Glover (High Society) and Adam Majsay (Assassins).

Musical theatre performer Patrice Tipoki (Les Miserables, WICKED) and husband Richard have welcomed a son into the world. David Harris
David Harris (WICKED, Anything Goes) will return to the stage in Connecticut, USA where he will originate the role of Max Bronfman in Goodspeed’s reinvented version of American musical Rags. Rags tells the story of Russian Jewish immigrants Rebecca Hershkowitz and her son, David as they travel to the USA through the famous Ellis Island in search of a new life and to meet up with Rebecca’s husband Nathan who immigrated a few years earlier.
Rags is a story about opportunity, optimism and hope and although the story is set in 1910 these themes are still very relevant today.

Kerrie Anne Greenland (Paris-A Rock Odyssey, Les Miserables) has been named in the cast of The Things Between Us a new musical written by New Zealand man Luke Di Somma. The show will play from September 14th- 17th at Papa Hou YMCA as part of the Christchurch Arts Festival.
