Dream Lover first show
On September 23rd, the much awaited world premiere musical, Dream Lover performed their first show at the Sydney Lyric Theatre, receiving a standing ovation from the appreciative audience.
Hairspray – Adelaide
On October 14th and 15th the Adelaide Entertainment Centre will be transformed into 1960’s USA. In a time of segregation, Tracy Turnblad (Lauren McKenna) dares that through big hair and big dreams she can change how people view others and how she views the world. Joined on stage by Simon Burke, Wayne Scott Kermond, Tim Campbell, Barry Conrad, Christina Anu and a large cast of over 500 performers, Adelaide is in for a treat. For tickets head over to:
Home Grown in partnership with the Grassroots initiative, VCA and The University of Melbourne will be presenting the next two readings of The Grassroots Initiative with Bradley McCaw’s The Oasis Musical and Nicole Melloy & Derek Rowe’s Bettie.
Kinky Boots rehearsals
Rehearsals are well underway ahead of the Australian premiere of Kinky Boots in Melbourne next month. The large Kinky Boots have been snapped at the Royal Melbourne Show this past week.
Side Show Australia first show
The company performed before their first audience on Friday, September 23rd at Hayes Theatre. With a stellar cast led by Laura Bunting and Kerrie- Anne Greenland the show tells the story of Daisy and Violet Hilton, siamese twins who grew up in 1930s Texas USA. They were abused and used as main attractions in a freak show before bursting onto the USA vaudeville stage and later movies. The show is not to be missed. Tickets can be bought by visiting the Hayes Theatre, Sydney website.
Singin’ in the Rain – Brisbane Opening
On Friday September 23rd Singin’ in the Rain opened at Brisbane’s Lyric Theatre. The show is in Brisbane till October 30th.
On Monday October 17th join members of the Singin’ in the Rain cast, Ben Gillespie, The Tap Pack and more for a night of singin’ (hopefully not in the rain!) at The New Globe Theatre. Tickets available from:
Voices for Change

Dream Lover cast recording now available
The Australian cast recording is now available for sale from iTunes and stores such as JB Hifi.
Inspired by the 1936 cult classic movie of the same name, Reefer Madness explores the world of evil jazz music, sex and violence. Set in 1999 Los Angeles the musical, Reefer Madness will play at Chapel off Chapel from November 24th to December 4th. The cast consists of Jared Bryan, Rosa McCarty, Ben Adams, Grace O’Donnell Clancy, Ella Burns, Stephen McDowell, Priscilla Stavrou, Ed Deganos, Seth Drury, Ashlee Noble, Daniel Ridolfi, Tess Branchflower and Alex Thompson.

Madeline Cain gives birth to baby boy
On September 19th, Madeline Cain (CATS) and her husband Jordan welcomed Oliver into the world. Congratulations to you all and welcome Oliver !
Australian contingent attends San Paolo congress
The Australian contingent of Simon Burke, Chloë Dallimore and Jennifer Ward- Lealand are currently attending the Federation of International Actor’s congress in San Paolo, Brazil.
Matthew Lee Robinson
Matthew Lee Robinson made his Carnegie Hall debut in the Sing For Hope concert performing his own original works.
Recent WAAPA graduate, Joel Granger (Titanic, Dogfight) is currently performing the role of Tobias Ragg in NZ Opera’s production of Sweeney Todd. The show is currently in Auckland and will later tour Wellington and Christchurch before closing on October 15th. The show is being directed by Australian Stuart Maunder.
