Opening Night – Jersey Boys
Thursday, September 6th saw the 2018/2019 edition of Jersey Boys open at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre.
With a stellar cast lead by Bernard Angel as Frankie Valli, Cameron MacDonald as Tommy DeVito, Thomas McGuane as Bob Gaudio and Glaston Toft as Nick Massi, Jersey Boys received a 4 star review from Theatre People.

Cast Announcement- A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder
Joining the previously announced Mitchell Butel who will portray eight members of the D’Ysquith family for The Production Company’s season of A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder are Chris Ryan as Monty Navarro, Alinta Chidzey as Sibella Hallward, Genevieve Kingsford as Phoebe D’Ysquith, Nancye Hayes as Miss Shingle and an ensemble including Annie Aitken, Johanna Allen, Matt Heyward, Paul Hughes, Jennifer Peers, Matt Predney and Drew Weston (standby).

Mamma Mia! celebrates 300th show
Congratulations to the company of Mamma Mia! who celebrated their 300th show on Sunday, September 9th. Mamma Mia! is currently playing at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre until September 30 when it heads to Adelaide.

Starstruck– The Stage Musical
Priscilla Queen of The Desert – The Musical producer Garry McQuinn is set to take the neon-lit world of Gillian Armstrong’s 1982 rock musical extravaganza Starstruck to the stage. McQuinn is spearheading the stage production of Starstruck, which he described as “an Australian fairytale, a wonderfully naive film with a dare to dream message”.
The book for the musical has been written by Mitchell Butel, one of Australia’s best-known musical theatre stars, and it will showcase NIDA’s graduating class of 2019 when it premieres at the Parade Theatre late next year.
Rob Guest Endowment Awards
The first round of auditions for the 2018 Rob Guest Endowment Awards took place on Monday, September 3rd at Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s Theatre, with the Sydney auditions taking place on Monday, September 10th. The Semi Finals will be on October 1st and finals on November 19th.
