American Idiot – 2017 Australian Tour

Brisbane has secured the first opportunity to witness the Australian premiere of Green Day’s American Idiot which is set to touch down at QPAC on February 23rd, 2017. American Idiot won two Tony Awards and a Grammy in 2010 for Best Musical Show Album. The show features an all-Australian cast in a show set to the tunes of the Grammy-award winning album of the same name.

DUSTY begins rehearsals in Melbourne 

The Production Company’s DUSTY cast began rehearsals on Monday, October 24th for their Melbournen (November 12th to December 4th, 2016) and Adelaide (December 31st to January 22nd, 2017) seasons. Starring Amy Lehpamer (Sound of Music) and Todd McKenney (Anything Goes, Boy From Oz) DUSTY tells the story of legendary English performer Dusty Springfield.

Godspell Reimagined

The Fairfax Studio at the Arts Centre, Melbourne is currently home to the Australian Shakespeare Company’s production of Godspell Reimagined which opened on Wednesday October 26th. With special guest Colleen Hewett (Boy From Oz, Chicago), Godspell Reimagined has modernised the the story of Jesus’ last days to include the cast and band as one on stage and has added in contemporary references. Godspell Reimagined runs until November 6th.

Kinky Boots Opens in Melbourne

On Saturday, October 22nd Her Majesty’s Theatre, Melbourne hosted the opening night of the highly anticipated hit musical Kinky Boots. On hand to help the Australian cast celebrate was musician and lyricist Cyndi Lauper who flew into Melbourne for the event. The show was well received with a standing ovation.

Mack and Mabel

The much loved Jerry Herman musical will premiere at The Hayes Theatre, Sydney, starting on November 18th and running for a month.

Matilda Australia celebrates their 500th show and a sold out Melbourne season 

On Sunday, October 23rd the company of Matilda celebrated their 500th performance in Australia. With only two weeks remaining of the Melbourne season, we are excited that the show has sold out. Congratulations to everyone involved!

Matilda begins previews in Brisbane on Friday 25th November 2016.

The Bodyguard Musical – lead announcement

On Tuesday, October 25th The Bodyguard Musical company announced that 2013 Australian Idol contestant Paulini will play the role of Rachel Marron (made famous in the hit 1992 movie of the same name by Whitney Houston). The Bodyguard is due to tour Australia in 2017, the rest of the cast will be announced at a later date.

Friday October 28th saw Life Like Company’s The Light in the Piazza open at The Playhouse of Melbourne’s Arts Centre to a standing ovation. With a cast that includes 2016 Rob Guest Endowment finalist Genevieve KingsfordThe Light in the Piazza tells the story of a young couple who fall in love and battle against all odds to keep their relationship alive.
