Darwin season of Velvet announced
Following successful seasons of Velvet at festivals in Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Edinburgh, Velvet is set to open at Darwin’s Entertainment on October 7th, 2017 and will run for a week only.

Kurt Phelan to host Movember event on Thursday
On Thursday, November 24th Kurt Phelan (Dirty Dancing) is hosting an event for Movember at the Camelot Lounge in Marrickville, NSW.
All proceeds raised from the evening will be donated to the Movember Foundation.

Matilda to begin Brisbane previews this Friday!
On Friday, November 25th QPAC’s Lyric Theatre will host the first preview of Matilda‘s Brisbane season. The role of Matilda will be played by Queensland based young performers Izellah Connelly (Sound of Music), Annabella Cowley, Venice Harris (Les Misérables) and Eva Murawski.
25 other childen will alternate the roles of Matilda’s classmates while the adult lead roles will be played by James Millar (Miss Trunchbull), Elise McCann (Miss Honey), Marika Aubrey (Mrs Wormwood) and Daniel Frederiksen (Mr Wormwood).
Michael Falzon and Jane Cho married

Mo- Town: A Fundraiser for the Movember Foundation
On Monday, November 28th Underground Broadway together with Theatre People Sings will hold Mo-Town: A Fundraiser for the Movember Foundation. The event will be held at Melbourne’s La Di Da bar and restaurant. Performers include Ruvarashe Ngwenya (Dusty), Blake Appelqvist (Kinky Boots), Bronte Florian (Kinky Boots), 2016 Rob Guest Endowment Award winner Linden Furnell (Kinky Boots) and more.

Rob Guest Endowment Awards
On Monday, November 14th The 8th Annual Rob Guest Endowment Awards were held at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre. The six finalists; Du Toit Bredenkamp (Sound of Music), Hilary Cole (Kinky Boots), Linden Furnell (Kinky Boots), Stefanie Jones (Sound of Music), Genevieve Kingsford (Light in the Piazza) and Matthew Predny (Kinky Boots) each performed solo and as a group in front of a judging panel that included Kelley Abbey, Guy Simpson, Andrew Pole and Michael James Scott. The winner of the 2016 Rob Guest Endowment Award is Linden Furnell.
Other performers on the night included Paulini (The Bodyguard), principal cast members from Aladdin (currently showing at the Capitol Theatre), cast members from Dream Lover- The Bobby Darrin Musical (currently showing at the Lyric Theatre), past Rob Guest Endowment Award winners Blake Bowden and Samantha Leigh Dodemaide, 2015 award winner Daniel Assetta and Helpmann Award winning performers Molly Barwick, Sasha Rose, Georgia Taplin and Bella Thomas who originated the role of Matilda in Australia.

Simon Gleeson and Hayden Tee to reprise Les Misérables roles on the West End
Well known Australian musical theatre performers Simon Gleeson and Hayden Tee will reprise their Les Misérables Australia roles of Jean Valjean and Javert on London’s West End. Gleeson will begin his run as Valjean on December 5th and will be joined by Tee on January 9th 2017.
