WHAT’S HAPPENING AROUND AUSTRALIAN THEATRES?
Disney today confirmed that Perth-born, Brisbane-based performer Shubshri Kandiah
The role will mark Shubshri’s professional musical theatre debut, having only graduated from Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University in December last year. She will play Princess Jasmine for the final two weeks of the Brisbane run at QPAC’s Lyric Theatre, before taking flight for her hometown of Perth with performances from 19 July at Crown Theatre.
Also announced today was the Adelaide season of Aladdin which will fly into the Adelaide Festival Theatre from April 2019. This is the first time a main stage Disney Theatrical production has ever been presented in South Australia.
Carmen, Live or Dead
Saturday, April 28th saw the opening of Carmen, Live or Dead at Sydney’s Hayes Theatre. Starring Natalie Gamsu in the titular role, the show tells the story of Carmen Frida Leon Davidovich, the love child of Frida Kahlo and Leon Trotsky and explores the complexities as Carmen who is at the end of her life takes us on a reflective journey of discovery.
Carmen, Live or Dead also features Stefanie Jones (Sound of Music) and Andrew Kroenert (Dream Lover) and runs until May 13th. Tickets are available at https://hayestheatre.com.au/

Priscilla’s David Harris will perform at the Kaufmann Concert Hall in New York as part of An Evening with Lynn Ahrens. Lynn Ahrens wrote lyrics for Ragtime, Anastasia and Onc

Congratulations to London based Australian performer Amy Manford (Phantom of the Opera) who performed the national anthem at London’s official dawn service on ANZAC Day. Manford performed in the presence of HRH Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle.
