Last week of Aladdin in Sydney and Kinky Boots in Melbourne

This is your last week to see Aladdin at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre and Kinky Boots at Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s Theatre before the two switch theatres. The first preview for the Melbourne season of Aladdin is Saturday, April 15th (opening night – Thursday April 20th) and the first preview for the Sydney season of Kinky Boots is Wednesday April 12th (opening night – Wednesday April 19th).

Lucy Maunder debuts as Miss Honey in Matilda

Friday, March 17th saw new mother Lucy Maunder (Heathers, Grease, Doctor Zhivago) perform her first show as friendly school teacher Miss Honey in the Australian/ NZ production of hit musical Matilda, which is currently playing at Perth’s Crown Theatre.

Paris– full cast announcement

The full cast announcement for Paris- A Rock Odyssey has been announced in the past week ahead of the July 13th- 15th season at the Melbourne Recital Centre. The selected roles will be played by the following:

Annie Aitken (Sound of Music) as Handmaiden, Shirley Bowen (Mary Poppins, Oliver) as Hecuba, Daniel Cosgrove (Einstein: Master of the Universe, Dogfight) as Aeneas, Jack O’Riley (RENT, Violet) as Thersites, Jordan Mahar (FIRST DATE, Einstein: Master of the Universe) as Talthybius/Diomede and Caitlin Quinn (Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Into the Woods) as Athena. There is also a chorus of 26.

The Tasmanian Theatre Awards (The Errols) were held on Sunday, March 12th at Hobart’s Wrest Point Hotel.

Mark Vincent to release new album next month

Mark Vincent’s (My Fair Lady, Dirty Dancing) new album, a tribute to Mario Lanza, the late tenor and Hollywood film star of the 1940s and 50s will be release on April 14th. Including songs such as Because You’re Mine and Nessun Dorma this is an album dear to Vincent’s heart.

Patrons named for JH Academy of Theatre Arts, Northern Ireland

London born actor, James Huish has recently opened Northern Ireland’s first dedicated training academy to youth theatre arts and on Thursday, March 16th named three Australian musical theatre performers amongst the academy’s patrons. Andy Conaghan (Les Misérables, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels)Anna O’Byrne (My Fair Lady, The Phantom of the Opera) and Erin Cornell (CATS). Congratulations Andy, Anna and Erin.

Singin’ in the Rain splashes into Japan

Singin’ in the Rain splashes into Japan next month and the many Australians will be tapping onto the Theatre Orb stage as part of the ensemble.
