Update: Kickstarter Campaign- Theatre In A Box

Theatre In A Box is a party board game for musical theatre lovers, created by Brenton Crewes, Flynn Crewes & Paul Morrison however they need your help to make it a reality! Theatre in a Box is is on Kickstarter and will only come to fruition if the project is financially supported on Kickstarter.

 As of  1:30 PM AEST on Saturday, July 25th, the campaign has raised $38,517 with 404 backers. With $1,443.00 needed before the campaign ends at midnight on Thursday, July 30th, we ask you do dig deep and pledge.

GRANTS

Victorian Live Music Venue Grants

Operators of licenced music venues effected by COVID-19 in Victoria can now apply for the Victorian Live Music Venues Program.  Funding can support  immediate business costs caused by the shutdowns and help businesses reopen in a COVID-safe way, providing employment opportunities for music industry workers ranging from musicians and crew to bookers, promoters and more.

The program will support venues that have a solid reputation for presenting original live music and demonstrate best practice in business operations including in staff, contractor, performer and patron management.

Congratulations to performers Glenn Hill (Jersey Boys, Matilda, 2012 RGE Award Winner) and Andy Cook (Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Beautiful, Matilda) who announced their engagement on Thursday, July 23rd.

Andy proposed to Glenn on Saturday, July 18th. The couple met while performing in Matilda. We wish you all the best for the future Glenn & Andy!

Keanu Kohiti Marama Tipoki

Congratulations to Bree Langridge (School of Rock, Wizard of Oz) and husband Kuki Tipoki (School of Rock, American Idiot) on the birth of their son Keanu Kohiti Marama. Keanu was born on Tuesday, July 21st 2020. He was brought into the world by his dad, Kuki. He is Bree and Kuki’s first child. We wish you all the best!

Lorelei Elizabeth Anderson 

Entering the world on Friday, July 24th 2020 was Lorelei Elizabeth, daughter of Justin Anderson (Evita, Billy Elliot) and Deanna Anderson (WICKED, Wizard of Oz). Lorelei is the couple’s second child and little sister to Adelyn- 2. Congratulations to the four of you!

Hope New Works Development Initiative: Passing The Script Along

The Hope New Works Development Initiative team  would like to thank everyone who helped “Hope: New Work Development” exist and live and breathe! Over the course of the initiative, ten new theatre pieces were virtually workshopped, voiced, discussed and fed and watered during a crazy time of disconnection.

This week, South Australian based soprano Ana Marina (The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables) released a video of herself singing ‘Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again’ from The Phantom of the Opera.

 

The Young Canadians

This week, we showcase a video from our new friends in Calgary, Canada. The Young CanadiansThis group comprises of 125 youth from the ages of 7-21. Calgary is an approximate 4 1/2 hour flight from the Canadian capital of Ottawa.

The Young Canadians were set to perform this medley from Come From Away for their March 2020 spring show. It was to be the first number where the entire cast would sing live and was planned to finish our show. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 50 of their members recorded their audio and video at home and submitted their performance to create this virtual rendition featuring 3 songs from the musical Come From Away.

Australian Cat-ingent Joins the International Company of CATS

Congratulations to the 17 Australian cast members who have been named in the International Company of CATS. They are:

CATS will open at Seoul, South Korea’s Charlotte Theater on September 9th. We wish you all the best!

CATS is celebrating the 40th Anniversary of The Jellicle Ball this year. Andrew Lloyd Webber began  began setting T.S. Eliot’s poems to music in 1977 and the compositions were first presented as a song cycle in 1980.
