Priscilla Queen of the Desert Australian Tour announced for 2018
This week it was announced that Priscilla Queen of the Desert, the quintessentially Aussie story about mateship, self discovery, determination and a fair go will tour Australia in 2018. The show will open at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre before the iconic bus travels to Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane.

The Last Five Years announced for Brisbane
Wax Lyrical productions are bringing Jason Robert Brown’s acclaimed 2001 musical, The Last Five Years to the Brisbane Powerhouse from October 7-14, 2017. Jamie and Cathy will be played by Kurt Phelan (Dirty Dancing) and Lizzie Moore (Kiss Me Kate).
Jamie, an up and coming writer, struggles to balance his sudden success with his increasing tumultuous love life. Meanwhile Cathy, an aspiring actress deals with the frustrations of her own career while watching her husband from the sidelines in this story of two twenty- somethings who fall in and out of love over the course of a five year relationship.

The Book of Mormon – cast change
Congratulations to Canadian, Nyk Bielak who has stepped into the shoes of Elder Cunningham in the Australian production of Helpmann Award nominated show, The Book of Mormon after the departure of AJ Holmes. Bielak’s previous shows include the Broadway and North American touring productions of The Book of Mormon.
Announcers and Performers announced for the 2017 Helpmann Awards
This week saw the announcement of the announcers and performers for the 2017 Helpmann Awards which will be held on the set of Kinky Boots at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre on Monday, July 24th.
The hosts for the evening include Queenie van de Zandt, Tim Draxl, Brooke Satchwell, Trevor Ashley, Garry Stewart, David McAllister AM, Stephen Page AM, Richard Mills AM, Emma Mathews, Lyndon Terracini AM, Deborah Hutton, Kate Mulvany, Charles Edwards, Jimmy Barnes AO and many more.
The evening will include performances from musicals My Fair Lady, Kinky Boots, Aladdin, Beautiful, The Book of Mormon and American Idiot.

Broadway Rebooted – Brisbane
June 26th saw the Brisbane theatre community gather at the New Globe Theatre for Broadway Unplugged, a night that saw amazing local performers take the stage to perform some classical musical theatre tunes and put a spin on some old favourites including a mashup of Fiddler on the Roof’s Matchmaker and The Sound of Music’s My Favourite Things.
Broadway Unplugged – Melbourne
Broadway Unplugged presented their musical showcase at Melbourne’s The Toff in Town on Monday, June 26th. With talented performers including Aladdin’s Heather Manley, Book of Mormon’s Morgan Palmer, Ordinary Day’s Joel Granger and Helpmann Award nominated Actress Amy Lehpamer. The show included hits from films.
