Helpmann Awards

On Monday, July 25th, the Australian theatre community gathered at the Sydney Lyric Theatre to celebrate what has been a big year. Matilda the Musical won 13 of the 13 awards they were nominated for, including Best Musical, Best Male Actor in a Musical (James Millar) and Best Female Actor in a Musical (Molly Barwick, Dusty Bursill, Tiana Mirra, Alannah Parfett, Sasha Rose, Georgia Taplin, Bella Thomas and Ingrid Torelli).

There was performances from the casts of Ladies in Black, Singin’ in the Rain, Sound of Music and Matilda.

In what has been a busy week for Matilda after they won 13 awards at Monday’s Helpmann Awards, the cast has performed their 400th show ! Congratulations Matilda Australia!

Ladies in Black is touring nationally
The Queensland Theatre Company has announced that the smash hit musical Ladies in Black will tour nationally in early 2017, taking in Sydney and Canberra and encore seasons in Brisbane and Melbourne. The cast and tour dates will be announced on August 15th in Sydney.

Tamsin Carroll (Miss Saigon, Grease: The Arena Spectacular, Dusty) will play the role of Shirley in Baz Luhrmann’s Strictly Ballroom, whichs open at West Yorkshire Playhouse, London on Wednesday, November 30th and runs till Saturday, 21st January.
