February 4th saw Book of Mormon open at the Princess Theatre in Melbourne.
Cast announcement- Big Fish
Thursday, February 2nd saw the announcement of the cast of Hayes Theatre’s Big Fish. Big Fish tells the story of Edward Bloom and his remarkable adventures and will be brought to life at the Hayes Theatre, Sydney from April 18th to May 14th. Starring in this production are Phillip Lowe (Georgy Girl, High Society) as Edward Bloom, Katrina Retallick (Ruthless, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Addams Family) as Sandra Bloom, Adam Rennie (Love Never Dies, Next to Normal, The Producers) as Will Bloom, Kirby Burgess (Heathers, Dirty Dancing) as Jenny Hill, Brenden Lovett (Hidden Sydney, Little Shop of Horrors) as Amos Calloway/ Dr Bennett, Alessandra Merlo (Spring Awakening) as Josephine Bloom, Aaron Tsindos (The Merchant of Venice) as Don Price, Joel Granger (The Gathering, Dog Fight) as Zacky Price, Seth Drury as Karl the Giant, Brittanie Shipway as The Witch, Zoe Iaonnou as The Girl in The Water, Zachary Webster (Mack and Mabel) as the Frustrated Fisherman and sharing the role of Young Will are Sam Wood and Brendan Godwin.

Ladies in Black – Brisbane Opening Night and 100th Show
January 31st Queensland Theatre Company’s Ladies in Black officially open in Brisbane to an enthusiastic audience. Set in the 1950’s, the show tells the story of Lisa, a young lady and her journey between the end of high school and the beginning of adulthood. Ladies in Black finishes in Brisbane on February 19th but not before celebrating their 100th show on Saturday, February 4th . The Melbourne season commences on February 25th at the Regent Theatre.

Matilda company celebrates their 600th show

McKenney hooked on playing the villain
February 4th saw the announcement that Todd McKenney (Grease, The Boy from Oz) will be lacing up his boots as Peter Pan’s arch nemesis Captain Hook in Bonnie Lythgoe’s upcoming pantomime Peter Pam. Peter Pan the timeless story about the boy who never grew up will hold its world premiere at the Gold Coast Arts Centre from June 23rd to July 1st before flying to seasons at Sydney’s State Theatre from July 7th to 16th and Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre from July 21st to 30th.
