Monday, February 20th saw the Brisbane theatre community come together at the Brisbane Powerhouse to celebrate the year that was 2016. Hosted by Dash Kruck and Melissa Western, the night was full of laughs and great entertainment including winner of last year’s Best Emerging Artist Award Georgina Hopson who will be performing in the Brisbane season of My Fair Lady at QPAC.

Wednesday saw the company of Cabaret celebrate their 50th show in what has already been a stellar season. Calamity Jane rehearsals

Carmen, Live or Dead

Carmen, the fascinating and extraordinary story of Carmen Frida Leon Davidovich, the love child of Frida Kahlo and Leon Trotsky will run from Tuesday, April 25th to Sunday, April 30th at Melbourne’s Butterfly Club. Green Room Award nominations

Tuesday, February 21st saw the announcement of the nominations for the 34th Annual Green Room Awards to be held at Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre on Monday, March 27th. Heading the 12 Musical Theatre categories is the Best Production Award which includes nominations for Kinky BootsLadies in BlackMatildaSingin’ in the Rain and Tick, Tick …Boom!. James Smith and Emma Delmenico to welcome a son in July 2017

Member of The Ten Tenors and musical theatre performer James Smith (Dirty Dancing, Wicked) and his wife Emma Delmenico (CATS, Wicked) made the announcement this week that they will be welcoming a baby boy into the world in July 2017. Congratulations James and Emma from the Theatre People team.

Star of Les Misérables Australia, Dubai and West End Patrice Tipoki and her husband Richard announced today that they are expecting their third child later this year. Congratulations from the Theatre People team.

My Fair Lady rehearsals begin

Monday will see the beginning of rehearsals for the company of My Fair Lady ahead of their Brisbane season which begins at QPAC’s Lyric Theatre on Tuesday, March 14th before Melbourne in May and a Sydney return season in August. Head to: for tickets and further information.




Full cast announced for Paris – A Rock Odyssey

Paris- A Rock Odyssey, a story about one of the world’s greatest love stories between Paris, Prince of Troy and Helen, the Greek queen is set to open at Melbourne’s Recital Centre in July for four performances only. Matthew Manahan (Cabaret) and Madeleine Featherby (The Mapmaker’s Opera) will play lovers Paris and Helen, Ulysses will be played by John Waters (The Addams Family), Achilles will be played by Ben Mingay (The Phantom of the Opera, An Officer and a Gentleman) and Kerrie Anne Greenland (Side Show, Les Misérables) will be playing Cassandra. Aussies amongst winners at WhatsOnStage Awards

On February, 19th 2017 The Prince of Wales Theatre in London hosted the 17th Annual WhatsOnStage Awards and among the winners were some of our own.

In what is a first for the WhatsOnStage Awards the Best West End Show was awarded to two shows,  Les Misérables and Wicked. Currently appearing in Les Misérables are Simon Gleeson and Hayden Tee and currently appearing in Wicked is Suzie Mathers.
