Book of Mormon rehearsals week 2

Carols by Cabaret

Bells were jingling and all were Merry as the Stars of various productions of the 2016 Hayes Theatre season including Laura Bunting and Kerrie- Anne Greenland (Side Show) and Brent Hill (Little Shop of Horrors) converged on the theatre on Monday, December 12th. The night was enjoyed by all in attendance.

Home Grown- Nick Enright Concert

On Sunday, December 11th Chapel off Chapel in Melbourne hosted Home Grown’s Song Book Series- The Songs of Nick Enright.

David Harris was the MC for the event. Both Enright and Harris grew up in Maitland, NSW and Harris made his professional theatre debut in Nick Enright’s The Boy From Oz.

Performers included 2016 Rob Guest Endowment Award finalists Hilary Cole (Kinky Boots) and Genevieve Kingsford (The Light in the Piazza)Patrice Tipoki (fresh from playing Fantine in the West End and Dubai productions of Les Misérables), Johanna Allen (The Light in the Piazza, Sound of Music) and Queenie Van De Zandt (Into The Woods, King Kong).

Melbourne Musical Theatre Festival 

January will see Melbourne alive with the Sound of Musicals! The inaugural Melbourne Musical Theatre Festival will be presented at the iconic Athenaeum Theatre in the CBD, running from the 6th- 28th the festival will feature a mixture of well- loved family musical favourites, timeless adult productions and new Australian shows. Sydney Theatre Awards Nominations

This week saw the announcement of the Sydney Theatre Award nominations with the Hayes Theatre Company professional production of The Little Shop of Horrors topping the nominations with 10 including Best Production of a Musical, Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Musical (Esther Hannaford) and Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Musical (Brent Hill).

Winners will be announced on Monday, January 23rd 2017 at the Seymour Centre.

The Full Monty cast announcement

This week saw StageArt announce the cast for their 2017 production of The Full Monty. Congratulations to the cast and chookas as you start rehearsing. The show opens on March 3rd, 2017 at The National Theatre in Melbourne. For further information and tickets head to http://www.stageart.com.au

Underground Broadway

On Monday, December 12th 2016 Underground Broadway together with Brisbane’s New Globe Theatre hosted their final event of the year with A Very Broadway Christmas. Headlining the night was performances by professional musical theatre performers Stefanie Jones (2016 Rob Endowment Award finalist, Sound of Music)Ashleigh Rubenach (2015 Rob Guest Endowment Award finalist, Sound of Music)Spencer Bignell (Sound of Music, Anything Goes), Billy Bourchier (Australian and International tours of Les Misérables), Adam Noviello (Matilda) and Emily Monsma (Hairspray).

The night was enjoyed by all in attendance. Like Underground Broadway on Facebook for news of future nights.
