Show Announcement: Lazarus

Friday, December 14th saw The Production Company announce their first show for the 2019 season.

With music and lyrics composed by David Bowie and a book written by Enda Walsh, Lazarus (inspired by Walter Tevis’ novel The Man Who Fell To Earth) tells the story of Thomas Newton, as he remains still on Earth – a ‘man’ unable to die, his head soaked in cheap gin and haunted by a past love. We follow Newton during the course of a few days where the arrival of another lost soul – might set him finally free.

The public are now invited to join the waitlist to be one of the first in line for ticket information at

Lazarus will be staged in the Playhouse at Arts Centre Melbourne in May and June 2019 for a strictly limited season.

Season 2019, The Production Company’s 21st birthday year, will be launched on February 19, 2019. All cast and ticketing details will be available at that time.

Show and Cast Announcement: The Sapphires

The acclaimed musical play The Sapphires written and directed by Tony Briggs will tour across the length and the breadth of Australia from 2019-2020 reaching over 140+ locations.

2019 will represent The Sapphires’ first major Australian regional tour. This production seeks to take The Sapphires on stage, further than ever before, both ‘on the road’ in theatres and ‘off the road’ on a special ‘Pop-Up’ stage for remote Indigenous Australian Communities.

Here’s our exciting and very talented 2019 cast:
Aljin Abella (Joe, till March 31st), Don Battee (Robby), Matilda Brown (Kay), Mindy Kwanten (Cynthia), Ngaire Pigram (Gail),  Lorinda Merrypor (Julie), Mike Smith (Dave), Calen Tassone (Jimmy) and introducing Anthony Lim (Joe, from 1st April).

Four young Aboriginal women from regional Australia who like singing country music, suddenly get the chance to change their tune and their lives. Wearing sequins, armed only with microphones they find themselves trying to spread joy in the hell that is the Vietnam War. The Sapphires is a funny, heart-warming tale inspired by the true story of four Yorta Yorta Women, who sing classic soul hits against the backdrop of personal change and massive social upheaval. It is an energetic, fun and engaging play that affirms life and the realisation of dreams.
