Book of Mormon rehearsals week 1 

The highly anticipated production of Book of Mormon began rehearsals this week ahead of first previews in January 2017.

Cabaret rehearsals week 2 

Cabaret rehearsals are in full swing ahead of the Kit Kat Klub’s first show on January 9th, 2017. There are limited tickets available with many shows already sold out. Christmas Carol events 

The most wonderful time of the year! Many Australian musical theatre performers are rehearsing hard ahead of the festive season and the numerous Christmas Carol events around the country.

Brisbane’s Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols were held last night and included performances by Marika Aubrey, Rhonda Burchmore, Luke Kennedy and Naomi Price.Sydney’s Carols in the Domain will be held on December 18th and Melbourne’s Carols by Candlelight will be held on December 24th.

If you are looking for an event out of the city try an event such as The Coogee Carols to be held on December 18th.

 

GLUGS Awards nominations

On Monday, December 5th the nominations for the annual GLUGS awards were announced at their Christmas Lunch. The nominations can be found at: https://glugs.com.au

 

Hayes Theatre Christmas Celebration 

Tomorrow night the stars of Australian theatre will descend on the Hayes Theatre to entertain their audience in Carols by Cabaret. The night will include performers from many of The Hayes Theatre Company’s 2016 productions including: Trevor Ashley, Laura Bunting, Kerrie-Anne Greenland, Virginia Gay, Angelique Cassimatis, Scott Irwin and Nancye Hayes herself.

A Very Merry Christmas Cabaret

A Very Venuti Christmas Benefit 

On Tuesday, December 13th performers from the Australian theatre community and Maria Venuti’s family will come together at Sydney’s SLIDE to host a fundraising benefit for much loved performer Maria Venuti after her stroke in early November. Rush Tickets 

The productions of Aladdin (Sydney) and Kinky Boots (Melbourne) have released Rush tickets for the remainder of their current seasons. Available two hours before a show, rush tickets give patrons the opportunity to purchase unsold tickets for a show at discounted prices.

Rush tickets are $45 for Aladdin

Groundhog Day nominated in 2016 WhatsOnStage Awards

Tim Minchin’s musical Groundhog Day has received seven nominations for the annual WhatsOnStage Awards in the UK including Best New Musical. The WhatsOnStage Awards are the UK’s only major theatre awards in which the public vote. Winners will be announced on February 19th, 2017.
