Aladdin to hold an Autism Friendly performance in Melbourne

August 12th, 2017 will see Disney in association with Amaze and Her Majesty’s Theatre host an Autism Friendly performance of Aladdin. For many individuals and families on the spectrum, attending a regular scheduled performance is difficult for many reasons including sensory issues and social anxiety.

Child casts announced for Bonnie Lythgoe’s Peter Pan

Congratulations to the children who have been cast in Bonnie Lythgoe’s Peter Pan for the Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne seasons.

For Brisbane, John and Michael Darling will be played by Charlie Dunn, Elijah Fern, William Fern and Sebastian Witt.

The child ensemble for Brisbane are: Isabella Anderson, Tess Devine, Archie Hill, David Hill, Hunter Leitch, Amber May, Maddie Mills, James Paige, Courtney Sutherland, Dominic Waite, Dana Weaver and Jack Williams.

For Sydney and Melbourne, John and Michael Darling will be played by Nicholas Cradock, Louis Fontaine, Eli Grace and Robbie Morgan.

The child ensemble for Sydney are: Toby Challenor, Zak De Gersigny, Paris Dimos, Charlotte D’Onofrio, Jamilia Escobar, Ricardo Fernandez, Kaan Guldur, Sophie Piggott, Ashleigh Pitt, Asha Rostron, Zak Scaf and Denzel Scott.

The child ensemble for Melbourne are: Isabelle Bitsikas, Sebastian Court, Aston Droomer, Tim Haskayne, Jada Lee Henry, Anthony Iviiti, Campbell Maccorquodale, Page Punsalang, Cameron Shook, Cierra Shook, Kaitlyn Stathakis and Massimo Zuccara.

Full cast for Hello, Dolly! announced
Friday, March 31st saw the announcement of the full cast for The Production Company’s production of Hello, Dolly!. Joining Marina Prior and Grant Piro are Verity Hunt- Ballard (Sweet Charity, Mary Poppins), Glenn Hill (Matilda), Baylie Carson (Dusty)Nigel Huckle (Les Miserables), Imogen Moore (Antarctica), Jack Van Staveren (Dream Lover), Mike Snell (We Will Rock You), Alana Tranter (Georgy Girl), Ella Burns (Dusty), Matthew Jenson (Singin’ in the Rain), Sam Marks (Singin’ in the Rain), Rubin Matters (Dusty), Thalia Smith (Grease), Suzanne Steele (Dream Lover), Rachael Ward (Singin’ in the Rain) and Brenton Wilson (Georgy Girl).

Green Room Award winners
Monday night saw the Green Room Award winners announced with Matilda leading the charge winning 8 awards. Caroline O’Connor (Funny Girl) and Callum Francis (Kinky Boots) won the awards for Female and Male leads and Naomi Price (Ladies in Black) and Jack Chambers (Singin’ in the Rain) won the awards for Female and Male in a supporting role respectively.

Kinky Boots launch their Brisbane season

Monday, March 27th saw cast members from the Australian company of Kinky Boots launch their Brisbane season with Callum Francis (Lola) singing ‘Hold Me In Your Heart’ and Toby Francis (Charlie) singing ‘The Soul of a Man’. Logie Nominations
Congratulations to theatre performers Craig McLachlan (Best Male Actor) and Marta Dusseldorp (Best Female Actor, Most Outstanding Actress) on their nominations for this year’s Logie Awards which will be held on Sunday, April 23rd 2017 at the Crown Palladium in Melbourne.

Matilda Australia and NZ celebrates one millionth audience member

Matilda the musical Australia and NZ celebrated their one millionth audience member last night at their show at the Crown Theatre in Perth. Congratulations to audience member Emily Stone who is pictured here with performers Lucy Maunder (Miss Honey) and Marika Aubrey (Mrs Wormwood).

Matilda is showing in Perth until May 7th before moving onto Adelaide and Auckland.

Matthew Lee Robinson to host New Voices in May 2017

Helpmann-nominated composer/lyricist Matthew Lee Robinson (Atlantis) returns from New York City to lead the new incarnation of this annual two-day musical theatre workshop with a unique performance outcome. In 2017, 12 participants will be personally assigned two songs from Robinson’s catalogue of award-winning musicals, including new material recently developed in New York with Broadway creatives.

Les Miserables wins top Dubai Award
The production of Les Miserables which played at Dubai Opera in November and December 2016 has been crowned Best Theatrical Performance in Dubai at Thursday’s Time Out Dubai Nightlife Awards. Many Australian’s were part of the company including: Hayden Tee, Patrice and Laura Tipoki, Emily Langridge, Daniel Belle, Billy Bourchier, Hugo Chiarella, Mischana Dellora- Cornish, Blake Erickson, Tamlyn Henderson, Nigel Huckle, Liam McIlwain, Sarah Murr, Adèle Parkinson, Michaela Powell and Natasha Veselinovic. Congratulation Les Miserables.

Monica Swayne to join the West End production of Aladdin
Monica Swayne (Fiddler on the Roof, WICKED) will be joining the West End production of hit musical Aladdin with the cast changes taking effect on Monday, June 5th. Aladdin UK is currently showing at the Prince Edward Theatre. Next to Normal extends their season 
After overwhelming advanced ticket sales, TheaterWorks production of Next to Normal has been extended until May 7th. Next to Normal stars Australia’s David Harris (Anything Goes, WICKED) as Dan, husband of Diana, a woman struggling with worsening bipolar disorder.
