Two decades of Divadom

Saturday 22 September 8pm at City Recital Hall

Twenty years can really fly by when you’ve been so many different people. Trevor Ashley has been a fixture of the Sydney entertainment scene for two decades, refusing to be defined by gender, style or playing by the usual showbiz rules. He has starred in iconic musical theatre roles, cabarets with a twist, and his own outrageous pantos for his whole life.

Whether you’ve seen Trevor perform at Sydney Opera House, a Spiegeltent or Stonewall, (or have never been to one of his shows before) you know it will be a night of epic music, laugh-out-loud comedy, and of course, a sequinned gown or six.

Join “La TrAshley” in a special, intimate show exclusive to City Recital Hall, as he recounts some of his favourite moments of his career, and also creates some new ones. Expect songs and stories from Les Miserables, Hairspray and Priscilla, plus special appearances by several well-known divas. Who knows? Maybe Liza Minnelli and Shirley Bassey will appear!

Trevor says: “I’m so excited to be performing at City Recital Hall for the very first time. It’s also the first time I have really looked back at my life and these last crazy 20 years in showbiz. It’s been a wild and exciting ride. I can’t wait to share that with my wonderful audience here in Sydney. It’s going to be very special.”

Accompanied by wunderkind James Simpson and an eight piece band, this not-to-be-missed concert celebrates how a boy from Bexley can end up headlining in heels on the West End, and everywhere in between.

Don’t miss this one-night-only event!

Trevor Ashley is one of Australia’s most sought-after and successful performers. He has built a career as an actor, writer, director and international queen of cabaret.

Ashley recently starred as Thenardier in Cameron Mackintosh’s Les Miserables for which he received a Helpmann Award nomination. Previously, Trevor played the leading role of Edna Turnblad in David Atkins’ Hairspray (Sydney Theatre Award nomination), and was also an original cast member of Priscilla Queen of the Desert – the Musical, creating the role of Miss Understanding.

But it is in the works of his own creations that he truly shines including, Fat Swan (Helpmann nominee), Little Orphan TrAshley, Diamonds Are For Trevor (Helpmann nominee), I’m Every Woman (Sydney Theatre Award – Best Cabaret), and Liza (on an E), a show which has taken him around Australia and the world, culminating with a season in London’s West End.

In July 2015, Trevor made his directorial debut to sold out audiences and critical acclaim with the Australian Premiere of Heathers: The Musical (Sydney Theatre Award nominee – Best Direction of a Musical), which played a sellout season at the Sydney Opera House in June.

Trevor most recently sold out the Sydney Opera House performances of his brand new show The Bodybag, as well as his acclaimed one-night-only Mardi Gala, with special guests including Carlotta, Todd McKenney, Joel Creasey, Paul Capsis and Casey Donovan.
