The Reviews are in for Mendes' Charlie and The Chocolate Factory

The much anticipated world premier of the musical version of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory  opened yesterday at The Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

Mixed reviews seem to be the order of the day for this award winning director's latest musical. Menses, it appears, has failed to bring Dahl's much loved story to the stage while preserving the magic that gripped so many generations of young readers and Christmas Day Movies watchers. Simon Edge of EXPRESS laments that he just 'didn't feel moved.' And for Sam Marlowe of ArtsDesk it was 'All stick and no lollipop.'

Choreography is by the award winning Peter Darling with the music scored by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is produced by Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Neal Street Productions and Kevin McCormick.
