Rehearsals in Full Swing for Fun Home

The Wedding Singer opens in Adelaide

Based on the smash-hit Hollywood movie starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, comes a hilarious musical comedy that celebrates all the fun of the ’80s. The Wedding Singer opened at Adelaide’s Her Majesty’s Theatre over the weekend. It was great to see the cast and audience party like it’s 1985! Congratulations to the company!

Josh Piterman Live

Port Fairy Spring Music Festival has announced an exclusive Autumn Gala event featuring musical theatre superstar Josh Piterman (The Phantom of the Opera) to take place in the Reardon Theatre on Friday, April 30th, and Saturday, May 1st. In this special event, leading up to the annual Port Fairy Spring Music Festival in October, locally-connected Josh Piterman will perform favourite works in two extraordinary performances, accompanied by Festival co-Artistic Director Stefan Cassomenos at the piano, with guest appearances by stellar singers Leah Oswin and Anna-Lee Robertson, and the Autumn Gala male choir.

CAST ANNOUNCEMENTS

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Producers Sonia Friedman, Colin Callender, and Michael Cassel are thrilled to announce new cast members joining the multi-award-winning theatrical event Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Joining the company are Green Room Award-winner Natasha Herbet as Dolores Umbridge, Torres Strait-Islander, former professional rugby league player and Wagadagam man Michael Bani as Bane, NIDA and VCA graduate Aisha Aidara making her professional debut as Rose Granger-Weasely and Melbourne-based actor Ben Walter who will assume the role of Albus Potter.

Also joining the production are Gabriella Barbagallo, Luke Clayson, Axel Duffy, Katie-Jean Harding, Matt Holly, Abdul Muhaimin, Harrison Riley, Tom Russel, and David Spencer.

New cast members are now in rehearsals, ahead of their first performances with the company on Wednesday 26 May 2021.

Continuing in their roles are Gareth Reeves as Harry Potter, Lucy Goleby as Ginny Potter, Paula Arundell as Hermione Granger, Michael Whalley as Ron Weasley, Tom Wren as Draco Malfoy, and Nyx Calder as Scorpius Malfoy.

The company of 42 performers is completed by Lucy Ansell, Alexander Artemov, Damien Avery, Jai Bacak, Bonnie Barlow, Mike Bishop, Clare Chihambakwe, Gillian Cosgriff,  Hannah Fredericksen, Lyndall Grant, George Henare, Soren Jensen, Debra Lawrance, Monet Lewis, James O’Connell, David Ross Paterson, Naomi Rukavina, John Shearman, Liam Smith, Connor Sweeney, Archie Thomson, Jessica Vickers, and Mackenzie Vokes.

Australian Musical Theatre Festival

Joining the previously announced cast members of Simon Gleeson, Natalie O’Donnell and Callum Francis are guest artists, Roger Hodgman (Former Artistic Director- Melbourne Theatre Company), Natalie Gilhome (Casting Director), Natalie Gamsu (Strictly Ballroom), Michael Tyack (Mary Poppins), Jane Edwards (Sydney Conservatorium of Music), Deone Zanotto (PB Meditation, Dream Lover), Natalie Calia (The Song Room), Anthony Phillips (Star Wars), Brittanie Shipway (Muriel’s Wedding), Amanda Hodder (Opera Australia), Derek Rowe (Melbourne Fringe), Travis Hennessy (Gloria) and Jack Lark.

Fangirls

Congratulations to the Australian company of Fangirls who have been signed by Ghostlight Records. Ghostlight Records is the label behind iconic cast albums like In The Heights, The Book of Mormon, Legally Blonde, The Last 5 Years, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Next To Normal, Be More Chill, Beetlejuice (and many more). They were approached and asked if they’d like to be the 1st Australian cast album they’ve ever released!
