Darlinghurst Theatre Company Announces 2021 Season

Sydney’s Darlinghurst Theatre Company promises an exciting year ahead as performances recommence. Musicals include ONCE and A Chorus Line.

ONCE, thankfully for us, it will come to life more than once when Richard Carroll’s production heads on the road after their Sydney season which runs from Friday, June 4th to Sunday, July 18th, 2021.

The company of Amy Campbell’s production of A Chorus Line will put their dance shoes back on when the show returns to Sydney. Playing four sold-out previews in March last year, the production received nightly standing ovations before being postponed on the day of its premiere due to the pandemic.

Further information on both shows can be found at

American Psycho

Sexy, dark, and disturbing, American Psycho- The Musical will be presented in the Sydney Opera House’s Playhouse from June 3rd to 27th, 2021. Based on Bret Easton Ellis’ 1991 famed novel American Psycho and the 2000 film of the same name, American Psycho- The Musical is a chilling yet wickedly comedic insight into a society driven by capitalism, self-image, and wealth. The production returns after a successful season at the Hayes Theatre Co. in 2019 that earned the musical nine Sydney Theatre Awards.

Starring Ben Gerrard, the pitch black, social satire tells the story of Patrick Bateman, a young and handsome member of Manhattan’s elite who indulges in sadistic sex and murder. With the book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Riverdale), music and lyrics by Tony Award-winner Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening) and featuring classic ‘80s hits from Phil Collins, Tears for Fears, New Order, and Huey Lewis and the News, American Psycho- The Musical is both cult-classic and crime thriller.
