SEASON EXTENSION- Come From Away
Hit musical Come From Away will play at Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre for an extra two weeks, with the announcement this week that the show will now close on Saturday, March 21st.

SEASON ANNOUNCEMENT- American Psycho to play nationally
After a successful season at the Hayes Theatre in Sydney and their recent win of nine awards at the Sydney Theatre Awards including Best Production of an Independent Musical, American Psycho will tour Australia in 2020 starting at the Sydney Opera House in June.
The cast for the tour was also announced this week. Joining Ben Gerrard (Sydney Theatre Awards- Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Musical will be Daniel Assetta (West Side Story, CATS), Angelique Cassimatis (HAIR, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert), Shannon Dooley (American Psycho- Hayes Theatre), Amy Hack (Romeo & Juliet), Mark Hill (West Side Story, Gypsy), Julian Kuo (In the Heights, West Side Story), Kristina McNamara (West Side Story, Carmen), Laura Murphy (Muriel’s Wedding, The Rise & Disguise of Elizabeth R), Liam Nunan (Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam) and Jason Winston (Cabaret, Assassins).

SEASON ANNOUNCEMENT- Bran Nue Dae announces return Sydney season
Following their successful Sydney season, Bran Nue Dae will return to Sydney from April 16th at Roslyn Packer Theatre. The first ever Aboriginal musical celebrates family, forgiveness and reconciliation with a feel-good mash-up of rock-and-roll, gospel, country and blues music.

SEASON ANNOUNCEMENT- Six to establish their Queendom in Wellington, NZ

CAST ANNOUNCEMENT- Merrily We Roll Along
The award-winning producer of Sweet Charity and Little Shop of Horrors, Luckiest Productions, in association with Hayes Theatre Co, is thrilled to announce the brilliant cast for the Stephen Sondheim-George Furth musical Merrily We Roll Along. A thrilling and compelling Broadway fable about friendship, compromise and the high price of success.
Joining the previously announced Elise McCann (Matilda, Everybody Loves Lucy) will be Ryan Gonzalez (In the Heights, Jersey Boys) as Charley, recent WAAPA graduate Andrew Coshan (MTC’s A View from the Bridge) as Franklin Shepard, Georgina Hopson (Ragtime, West Side Story) as Gussie, Aaron Tsindos (Muriel’s Wedding, Shakespeare In Love) as Joe. Recent graduate from Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Tiarne Sue Yek plays the role of Beth while Ayesha Madon (IRENE, Fangirls) will perform the roles of KT and Meg.

CAST ANNOUNCEMENT-Ian Stenlake joins The Bridges of Madison County cast
Joining the cast of The Bridges of Madison County as Robert Kincaid will be Ian Stenlake (Mamma Mia!, Georgy Girl). Stenlake will replace previously announced performer Martin Crewes who is unavailable due to scheduling conflicts.
Playing opposite Ian as Francesca is Kate Maree Hoolihan, who played the role of Scaramouche in the original Australian production of We Will Rock You for which she won a prestigious Helpmann Award. Other notable theatre credits include the GFO/Opera Australia productions of My Fair Lady and Evita.
Making his Hayes debut in the role of Francesca’s stoic husband is musical theatre stalwart Anton Berezin (Evita, Sweeney Todd), while in the roles of the Johnson’s probing neighbours Marge and Charlie are Beth Daly (Cry-Baby, Hello Dolly!) and Michael Beckley (Melba, West Side Story). Making their Hayes Theatre Co debuts in the show are Katie McKee (My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music) and Grady Swithenbank (Sweet Charity, West Side Story), alongside Zoe Ioannou (West Side Story, The Wizard of Oz) who has previously starred at the Hayes in Big Fish.

Glugs Awards announced
Monday, February 3rd saw the announcement of the annual Glug Awards. The Glug Awards recognise the achievements and contributions of the theatre community to Sydney.
The evening saw the Lifetime Achievement Award awarded to the amazing Nancye Hayes who together with being the name sake of the Hayes Theatre in Sydney has devoted her life to the Australian arts community. We thank you for your guidance, nurturing and devotion to musical theatre, Nancye Hayes!

Hayden Tee (Matilda, Les Miserables) will portray Miss Trunchbull in the Manila leg of the International Tour of Matilda. Tee recently played “The Trunch” on London’s West End. INTERESTING FACT- In the first draft of Matilda, Matilda died at the end of the story.
Alex Gibson- Giorgio (Rags, Mamma Mia!) will play Ramon in Zorro The Musical at Manchester, England’s Hope Mill Theatre. Ramon, childhood friend of Zorro (Don Diego de la Vega) and Luisa. Ramon is appointed Captain of the Army and upon seizing power inflicts cruel leadership on the people he was placed in charge of.

In what has been a big week for Gibson- Giorgio, Ghostlight Records announced that it will release a cast recording of Rags The Musical. The album, which will be recorded, mixed, and mastered by Joe and Nikki Davison at Auburn Jam Music, will be executive-produced by composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz with Nick Barstow as music producer and orchestrator and Joe Bunker as musical director.
