Red Stitch’s first production for 2016 is the Australian premiere of UK playwright Penelope Skinner’s award-winning and hilarious look at monogamy, pornography and desire. Fiercely erotic, The Village Bike upends presumptions about sexuality, and asks – is it possible to walk the line between cultural convention and personal freedom?

Penelope Skinner’s plays include Fucked, Eigengrau and The Sound of Heavy Rain. The Village Bike played a sell-out run at the Royal Court and went on to win the 2011 George Devine Award. Skinner was nominated at the 2012 Olivier Awards for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre. Her latest play, Linda opened at the Royal Court Theatre in December 2015.
