Perth’s most exciting theatre company The Last Great Hunt opens their 2018 season with THE TALK. A fast-paced comedy set to a sexy pop soundtrack, this brand new show examines what we say to teenagers about sex – and what we don’t.
For nine shows only at the Subiaco Arts Centre April 11-21, tickets are on sale now – with early bird prices until March 14.
Eva is 15 and all she wants is answers. No more condom demonstrations or close-up slides of chlamydia. She needs honesty, and she’s not afraid to get it.
One petition, one riot and one school suspension later, Eva sets out on her own quest to discover just what it is that everyone is hiding.
Written and directed by award-winning theatre maker Gita Bezard (The Advisors, Girl Shut Your Mouth, Minnie and Mona Play Dead), THE TALK stars an all-female cast of rising local talent.
“I think that the way we talk to our young people about sex is broken,” says Bezard.
“Adults are still so afraid of having honest conversations with teenagers about their sexual choices but these days they can easily access information; bad and good, and totally inappropriate.
“We’ve been working on THE TALK for a while but it comes at an interesting time. We have fun with the show, but we also examine the serious issue of how we talk about sex to teenage girls compared to boys. Why are we busy telling girls not to wear short skirts but not telling boys that no means no? What messages about sex are really being given?”
This hilarious and pointed new show from The Last Great Hunt holds up the fears of the adults against the questions of the teenagers. This is: THE TALK.
THE TALK is recommended for ages 14+ due to coarse language and adolescent/adult themes.
