Hugh Jackman and Bernadette Peters have been announced as the 2012 recipients of the Special Tony Award and the Isabelle Stevenson Award.  Both awards will be presented at the 2012 Tony Awards that take place on June 10.
 

Isabelle Stevenson Award – Bernadette Peters
The Isabelle Stevenson Award recognises an individual from the theatre community who has made a substantial contribution of volunteered time and effort on behalf of one or more humanitarian, social service or charitable organisations.
Together with Mary Tyler Moore, Bernadette Peters founded Broadway Barks! a program that promotes the adoption of shelter animals.  To further support the cause, she has also written two children’s books to benefit the charity. Additionally, Ms. Peters works with a number of charities including Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, Standing Tall, and Actors Fund of America.
 

Special Tony Awards –Hugh Jackman
The Tony Awards Administration Committee will present the Special Tony Award to Tony Award-winning actor and three-time Tony Awards Show host – and all-round top Aussie Bloke – Hugh Jackman.
Hugh is being recognised for his contribution to the Broadway community, both as a performer and humanitarian.  His charitable work; and his personal generosity of spirit will also be recognised when he receives this award on 10 June.
