Alexandra Handley won first place in the open division of Take the Mic, a competitive music event for aspiring vocalists. Handley performed “Orange Coloured Sky” during her preliminary round winning over the judges and audience giving her the opportunity to compete in the Season 5 Melbourne Grand Final.
“I have been looking for an outlet to jump start my future career in the music industry. After researching jobs on the internet, take the mic popped up and i took it as a sign!” Handley hopes to use her winning prize to jump start her portfolio and eventually start to write her own music. Sponsored by Obsessive-Music, Handley won a 12 Hour Recording Studio session with award winning music producer Kim Lajoie amongst many other valuable prizes.
“It was a beautiful and exhilarating experience to meet others striving for the same goals”. Handley emphasises how truly inspiring it was to be “surrounded by such talented people”. In 2016, Handley aims to “polish and master” her skills as a live performer.
