The Depot Theatre @ Limelight on Oxford presents Tony Award winning modern musical classic
Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim Book by George Furth
14 November – 1 December, 2018
Limelight on Oxford, 231 Oxford St, Darlinghurst – @limelightonoxford

Originally programmed as part of The Depot Theatre’s 2018 Season, COMPANY is the very first musical and just the second show to play in new boutique performance venue, Limelight on Oxford in Darlinghurst. This ground breaking and Tony Award winning musical masterpiece is a mature, intelligent and wildly funny look at relationships, vulnerability and ‘being alive.’

On the night of his 35th birthday, Robert struggles to think of a wish to make as he blows out his birthday candles. Over a series of dinner parties, first dates, and thoughtful conversations, Robert attempts to understand what it means to be married and begins to make sense of his own persistent bachelorhood. A trailblazer of the dark comedy musical, COMPANY was among the first musicals to deal with adult themes and relationships.

American composer Stephen Sondheim is known for the startling complexity of his lyricism and music. He wrote the music and lyrics for COMPANY in 1970. Other major works include Sweeney Todd, Sunday in the Park With George and Into the Woods. The actor and playwright George Furth had a prolific career as a performer but will be best remembered for his collaborations with Sondheim.
