Home Grown have assembled an impressive line up for the Songs of Nick Enright.
It’s all happening tomorrow night at Chapel off Chapel!
Patrice Tipoki has just finished reprising her unforgettable performance as Fantine in the Australian production of Les Miserables, in Dubai, London and Singapore. Before Les Miserables, Patrice shared the role of Elphaba in Wicked. Other credits include: Nala (The Lion King), Killer Queen and Scaramouche (We Will Rock You). Patrice has just released the new single “Christmas All Year Long” featuring special guest guitarist Lorin Nicholson, written by Randy Kartchner and Ed Kee.
Also joining the line-up is the brilliant Elenoa Rokobaro. Most recently she gave Melbourne audiences a thrilling performance as Reno in Dusty, for the Production Company. This week, Elenoa began rehearsals for The Book Of Mormon, opening in January. Her other impressive credits include: Side Show, Violet and Legally Blonde. Elenoa has also appeared in Chanteuse at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, and last year appeared in the national tour of Ghost.
Australian audiences will no doubt remember Kellie Rode from her performance in the Australian Production of MAMMA MIA. Other recent credits include: Mother and Son and a recurring role on House Husbands. Kellie has also appeared in: The Rocky Horror Show, The Boyfriend and Virgins. Recently Kellie took part in the reading of Matthew Lee Robinson’s concert reading of ATLANTIS.
Andrew Kroenert has just finished up in the spectacular new Bobby Darrin musical, Dream Lover. Other recent credits include: Company, Fiddler on the Roof and City of Angels. Andrew has also performed in Australian works: Virgins, The Silver Donkey and Once We Lived Here.
Since returning from London in 2015, Genevieve Kingsford has been seen in Sing on Through Tomorrow (Matthew Lee Robinson) and La Traviata (AIOC). Most recently Genevieve played Clara in The Light In the Piazza. Whilst in London, Genevieve performed the role of Johanna in Sweeney Todd and played the title role in Violet at LSMT. Genevieve was the winner of the East End Theatre District Award in the prestigious 2016 Rob Guest Endowment Award.
Christina O’Neill’s past credits include: The River, Middletown, Belleville for Red Stitch Actors Theatre. Into the Woods and Sunday in the Park with George for Victorian Opera. And her unforgettable performance in the Australian Production of Avenue Q for which Christina won a Helpmann Award. Christina has also appeared in Australian Musicals: Priscilla, Prodigal and Gaybies.
Most recently, Scott Morris performed in the national touring production of the Sound of Music. Prior to this, Scott’s extensive list of credits includes: Wonderful Town, Grease, A Chorus Line and Spring Awakening. Scott is also a regular performer of Matthew Lee Robinson’s new compositions at the Home Grown events.
Next up in our line-up is the brilliant Cameron MacDonald. Cameron has just finished a production of Rent in Singapore as Roger. Earlier this year audiences would have seen him in Songs for a New World and as the title character in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown. Other recent credits include: Georgy Girl, Passion and Parade. TV audiences may have caught Cameron in 800 Words, The Divorce and the Dr. Blake Mysteries.
Fresh from performing in the Light in The Piazza at Arts Centre, Melbourne, Jonathan Hickey is joining our brilliant cast for The Songs of Nick Enright.Earlier this year Sydney audiences would have seen Jonathan in the Fantasticks at the Hayes Theatre. He has also been touring Queensland for Shake and Stir and Opera Queensland with Fizz!
Next up in the cast is the stunning Kerrie Anne Greenland. Audiences will no doubt remember her unforgettable performance as Eponine in Les Miserables, for which she won a Helpmann Award in 2015. Kerrie was most recently seen by Sydney audiences in Side Show at the Hayes Theatre. Before graduating from WAAPA, Kerrie also appeared in Into the Woods, How to Suceed in Business and Violet. And in 2013 she was a finalist in the Your Theatrics Cabaret Competition.
Zoy Frangos has just finished performing in the Sydney season of My Fair Lady. Previously seen in musicals Les Miserables, South Pacific and Officer and a Gentleman, Zoy also performed in the World premiere of Deborah Cheetham’s indigenous opera Pecan Summer. Zoy is no stranger to Chapel Off Chapel, performing in the musical Dogfight earlier this year.
Home Grown are thrilled to have Martin Croft on board for the star-studded tribute to Nick Enright. Martin has starred in shows such as Les Misérables, Godspell, Cats, Miss Saigon, The Phantom of the Opera, and as a guest principal singer with Opera Australia. Martin was most recently nominated for a green room award for his direction of City of Angels. Currently Martin is serving as Resident Director on Kinky Boots.
Next up in our line up for Sunday Night is the wonderful Hilary Cole. After appearing in a string of Sydney musicals including Calamity Jane, Carrie The Musical and The Drowsy Chaperone, 2016 has seen a return to Melbourne stages for Hilary. Currently appearing in Kinky Boots and earlier this year strutting her stuff in Heathers we’re sure glad she’s back. And fittingly last year Hilary also appeared in Nick Enright’s Miracle City at the Hayes.
Having performed in Georgy Girl, King Kong, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Sophie Carter is a constant star on Australian stages. Other Credits include: Motherhood the Musical, Xanadu, Shane Warne the Musical and Urinetown The Musical.
She’s just finished the Melbourne season of Dusty the Musical as Mary O’Brien (aka young Dusty) and Home Grown are delighted to welcome Baylie Carson to the cast of this Songbook Series – The Songs of Nick Enright. Boasting a killer voice, Baylie has been touring Australia with Life Like Touring and has performed in Connected the Musical and concerts with New York based composer Matthew Lee Robinson.
Most recently Melbourne audiences would have seen Sally Bourne performing in Dogfight and the acclaimed production of Company at 45 Downstairs. Past credits also include: Newtons Law and The Divorce (ABC), The Boy from Oz and Damn Yankees (The Production Company) and Neighbours (TEN). Among many other Musical Theatre productions, Sally has performed in Australian Musicals Once We Lived Here and Shane Warne the Musical.
Next up in the remarkable cast is Anton Berezin. Most recently appearing in The Light in the Piazza, Anton has had a brilliant career performing in musicals such as Wicked, Dr Zhivago and The Secret Garden. Television audiences would have seen Anton in The Divorce, Jack Irish and Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries.
Both Noni McCallum and David Rogers-Smith will be joining the cast for the Songs of Nick Enright. These two much loved performers have delighted audiences across Australia, and have both most recently appeared in The Sondheim Trilogy for Victorian Opera.
Melbourne Audiences would have also seen David this year in Banquets of Secrets.
Last year Noni was seen in her solo cabaret debut, Tinderella.
Establishing a career as one of Australia’s most versatile performers, Johanna Allen has most recently appeared in The Sound of Music and The Light in the Piazza. Allen’s credits also include Wicked, Dr Zhivago and The Mikado.
Queenie van de Zandt is one of Australia’s most well recognized theatre performers and has played leading roles in hit musicals such as: Into the Woods, King Kong, Smoke & Mirrors, Oliver!, The Full Monty, Anything Goes, Cabaret, The Boy From Oz, Eureka – The Musical, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, Hair, and in 2016 she appeared in Follies in Concert. Queenie’s alter-ego, Jan van de Stool, the madcap International Musical Therapist gathered a national cult following, when she appeared on Australia’s Got Talent in early 2016. Other television Queenie has worked on: Winners & Losers, Very Small Business and City Homicide.
Rounding off this impressive line up is David Harris, one of musical theatre’s most loved leading men, who will be the MC for the Gala Evening. Audiences will know David from Legally Blonde, his portrayal of Chris in Miss Saigon and most recently David starred alongside Sutton Foster in Defying Gravity. David began his professional career in the Original Australian Production of Nick Enright’s The Boy from Oz, so it seems fitting that he should be back in town for this tribute to Nick.
