PIANISTS FROM NEW YORK’S TOP PIANO BAR, MARIE’S CRISIS FLY TO SYDNEY TO ENTERTAIN SHOWTUNE LOVERS

Two top pianists from New York City’s famous sing-along showtunes bar Maries Crisis are flying to Sydney for an annual event which brings Broadway’s magic onto Sydney’s Oxford Street.

Kenney Green and Adam Tilford are regular pianists and hosts at NYC’s Marie’s Crisis, which has recently featured on TV shows Younger and The Politician.

Sydney’s very own version is called Sing Out, Louise and takes place on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 November 2019 at The Polo Lounge, upstairs at The Oxford Hotel on Oxford Street, 7:30pm – 3am. This’ll be the annual event’s fourth year in Sydney. It’s completely free; attendees are encouraged to tip the pianists on the night.

The night is a communal sing-along night featuring songs from musicals ranging from popular classics, such as Les Mis, Chicago, The Sound of Music and Grease, to the cult showtunes such as the musicals of Stephen Sondheim and newer arrivals like Hamilton – plus everything in between.

Kenney Green said: “Sydney has truly become a second home for us! The love of the showtunes from Sydneysiders is not only infectious but it fuels us every year to the point that we can’t wait to be reunited with our brothers and sisters down under.”

Event organiser Gary Nunn said: With the lock-out laws about to go in this part of Sydney, we’re ready to raise the roof till the early hours with world class live entertainment that New Yorkers queue down the street for. It’s no surprise Melbourne has followed in Sydney’s footsteps – the talented pianists will be flying there straight after Sydney’s event as one of the Melbourne Festival’s highlights. But Sydney gets them first! And we cannot wait.”

“What makes this event unique is it attracts all ages, all sexual orientations, all backgrounds and all singing abilities. Something special and rare happens in the room: total strangers have their arms around each other, and things can get quite poignant and emotional as the communal singing ignites a place that may’ve, for much of the year, remained dormant. That’s what this event is all about.”
