The riotous, satirical, and newly revived Shane Warne: The Musical was set to be better than ever, with writer and star Eddie Perfect updating the script for a repeat run in June, and with Lisa McCune taking a turn as Warne's ex-wife Simone Callahan… But no one to play love interest, Elizabeth Hurley.
That is, until recently when Christie Whelan-Browne stepped onto the pitch. With a background in tongue-in-cheek performances (Britney Spears: The Cabaret), Whelan-Browne is perfect for the role.
"I am thrilled to be playing the first brunette of my career," she said. "I love the show, I love Eddie Perfect, I love Liz. I am in heaven."
Theatre insiders say a show tune about Hurley's "f … off" moment with Perth TV reporter Caty Price "would have to be included".
