Editor In Chief
The purpose of this role is to develop the people, content and reputation of the Theatre People Website. With a line of direct reports including editorial staff and writers, the Editor In Chief is a pivotal role within the organisation, providing leadership and creative direction across the business.
The Editor in Chief is responsible for hiring, developing and succession planning, including providing regular feedback and coaching to our core team of writers and reviewers, as well as our causal writing staff. With a solid background in writing, editing and proofreading, you will take full accountability for the creation of engaging content, which drives readership and pushes the boundaries of creativity. You will uphold high editorial standards and strive for accuracy and timeliness. As a creative and adaptable professional, you will be comfortable creating unique content, which is in line with the brand and the strategic objectives of the site.
You will be a brand champion for Theatre People and interact with the readership and clients on a regular basis, answering questions and acting as an ambassador. You will actively seek out partnerships with arts organisations or bodies and work collaboratively with our sponsorship partners. You will be the face of our business, and attend regular industry events and internal events to promote the brand.
In order to be successful in this role, you must have a solid background in writing and editing, with a creative flair and a passion for theatre. You will display maturity and be professional, respectful and encouraging to all of our team. You will set a tone for open communication and be a passionate advocate of knowledge sharing.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director of Theatre People, you will be comfortable following direction and take on board constructive feedback with enthusiasm. This role requires a minimum commitment of eight hours per week, but that may fluctuate depending on seasonal peak periods. We offer a flexible working environment, so the vast majority of your work can be conducted after hours from home.
