Just one week out from opening night, the final press call for Legally Blonde The Musical, was held at yesterday, at Sydney Lyric.
Press were treated to show-stopping numbers such as So Much Better, Serious and Whipped Into Shape. Without giving too much away, audiences are in for a real treat.
Whilst still in early stages and yet to officially open, Legally Blonde is already promising to be the next big thing. It's Sydney Lyric's next big musical slated for opening, since An Officer and a Gentleman in May this year. With disappointing audience numbers, this world premiere was sadly forced to close much earlier than anticipated, just six weeks after opening. With the hype, interest and reviews that are so far circulating, I think it's safe to say that Legally Blonde The Musical will be around for some time yet.
Legally Blonde The Musical is the hilarious story of college sweetheart and homecoming queen, Elle Woods – a girl who doesn't take no for an answer. When her boyfriend dumps her for someone "serious", Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books and heads for Harvard Law School! Along the way, she proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.
Winner of Best Musical at the 2011 Olivier Awards and running into its third year on the West End, this was the brainchild of world-class creative team led by Tony Award®-winning director Jerry Mitchell.
Australia's darling of the theatre, Lucy Durack, IS Elle Woods. She encompasses everything about this character and it's hard to imagine any one else doing the role justice, the way Lucy does. With an all-star cast including David Harris, Helen Dallimore, Rob Mills, Cameron Daddo, Erika Heynatz, Mike Snell, Renee Burleigh, Chloe Zuel and Ashlea Pyke; this has 'hit' written all over it. Dare I also say it, a few future Helpmann Awards coming their way as well in 2013.
Tickets are on sale now for previews, ahead of the official opening night next Thursday, October 4th http://www.ticketmaster.com.au/Legally-Blonde-tickets/artist/1088449l
