Bryce Halliday and Hayes Theatre Co presents On The Spot Musical as part of its Cabaret in Residence at the Hayes Theatre Co on Sunday, 18 & Sunday 25 May.

Using just a keyboard and some words from the audience, Bryce Halliday, Jim Fishwick and their cast of champion improvisers create the next great Australian musical on the spot. If you’ve seen an improv show in Sydney in the last few years you’ve probably either seen Jim Fishwick performing in it or heard Bryce Halliday creating music for it.

Bryce Halliday is a Cabaret Showcase Award winner and graduate of the Australian Institute of Music. He recently returned from Melbourne International Comedy Festival where he received rave reviews. Jim Fishwick is a champion performer and teacher of improv. He was the host of last year’s Cranston Cup Grand Final at Enmore Theatre. In 2012 his musical variety hour Alexander Vanderboom’s Acts of Derring-Doo won Best Musical Theatre Act at the Sydney Fringe Festival.

On The Spot Musical also features the talents of Bridie Connell and Lisa Ricketts – both previous Cranston Cup winners and National Theatresports Champions, as well as Rob Johnson (Mantaur, Carrie: The Musical) and Robert Boddington (2014 Sydney Comedy Festival).

Each show they will be joined by Hayes alumni and stars of Sydney’s independent musical theatre scene, including: Marika Aubrey (Last of the Red Hot Mamas, South Pacific, The Last 5 Years), Blake Erickson ([title of show], Hold Me Closer Logies Dancer) and Mark Simpson (Hairspray, Forbidden Broadway, Rocky Horror).

Hayes Theatre Co is a dedicated music theatre and cabaret venue in Potts Point which was formerly the home of the Darlinghurst Theatre Company.  Named for Australian musical theatre legend, Nancye Hayes OAM, Hayes Theatre Co honours and builds on the vast history of Australian Musical Theatre and its practitioners.
