THE PRODUCERS OF CIRCUS 1903 INVITE YOU TO NAME THE BABY ELEPHANT CREATED BY THE PUPPETEERS OF WAR HORSE
The award-winning puppeteers of War Horse have been hard at work in London creating the stars of CIRCUS 1903 – The Golden Age of Circus: the largest-ever performing African elephant and her calf.
In an Australian first, the general public are invited to name the exquisite baby elephant puppet. The producers said: “Our magnificent African elephant Queenie has had a baby boy and he needs a name to suit his intelligence and playfulness. Dream up the perfect name and you’ll be winning more than just peanuts”.
Both elephant puppets will travel the world in CIRCUS 1903 – The Golden Age of Circus – a production that celebrates the skills and artistry of the circus spectacular of yesteryear.
In addition, the producers of CIRCUS 1903 (who captured Sydney’s imagination last summer with The Illusionists 1903) are thrilled to announce they have formed a partnership with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).
“By choosing to use beautifully crafted puppets instead of captive animals, Circus 1903 has won the respect of everyone who objects to condemning wild animals to lives in chains or inside cages as well as making them perform under the threat of a bull hook or whip”, says PETA Australia Associate Director of Campaigns Ashley Fruno.
The competition will commence on Thursday 6 October and entrants can name the Baby elephant by entering via the website. http://www.circus1903.com/australia/contest
