On Monday 1 July Melbourne Theatre Company will release one thousand $10 tickets, available for 100 hours, to its world premiere production of Golden Shield in celebration of Southbank Theatre’s 10 year anniversary.
In further celebration of Southbank Theatre turning 10, MTC is opening its doors for Open House Melbourne on Saturday 27 July. The day’s activities will include backstage tours to never before seen parts of the theatre plus an exhibition of costumes, props and set models in the foyer.
Also as part of Open House Melbourne, MTC is hosting a special free public talk featuring Ian McDougall from ARM Architecture who designed Southbank Theatre and the Melbourne Recital Centre, along with fellow leading architects Meaghan Dwyer from John Wardle Architects and Kerstin Thompson of Kerstin Thompson Architects to discuss the evolution of Melbourne’s Arts Precinct over the past decade and the art of designing cultural spaces. This special event is hosted in partnership with the University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Fine Arts & Music and will be facilitated by art and design commentator Ray Edgar.
MTC’s special $10 tickets will be on sale at mtc.com.au/10tix from 10am Monday 1 July for 100 hours, or until sold out.
