MTC returns to MPavilion on Saturday 22 January to present MTC in Conversation with acclaimed director Simon Phillips (Twelfth Night).

Phillips will contribute to a discussion about the upcoming world premiere of MTC NEXT STAGE Original commission Come Rain or Come Shine, exploring what it is like to create work in Melbourne and abroad, and the ideas that come to you while on vacation. Hosted by MTC Associate Director Petra Kalive (The Lifespan of a Fact), audiences will also hear from actor in this all-new boutique musical, Chris Ryan (As You Like It).

An adaptation of Nobel laureate Kazuo Ishiguro’s wildly comic short story about music, memory and lifelong friendship, Come Rain or Come Shine is from the Helpmann Award-winning team behind Ladies in Black and opens in June 2022.

MTC in Conversation is a free event on Saturday 22 January at 3.30pm at MPavilion. For more information visit mpavilion.org

An ongoing initiative of the Naomi Milgrom Foundation, MPavilion is Australia’s leading architecture commission—a cultural laboratory where the community can come together to engage and share.

Come Rain or Come Shine was commissioned through MTC’s NEXT STAGE Writers’ Program, supported by the donors, foundations and organisations of MTC’s Playwrights Giving Circle.
