There is something for the whole family to enjoy this February and March, with a series of free events celebrating our community, culture, art, leisure and food as part of the 2020 Moonee Valley Festival.
The festival features five highlight events, opening with Illuminate the River and closing with a community picnic to celebrate Neighbour Day and present the Moonee Valley Neighbourhood Spirit Awards. There will also be a Come and Try Day, an opportunity for the community to give a new sport a go, a Twilight Concert and the tasty Festival Food Fair.
Headline performances for the Illuminate the River event include Jacob’s Run, Oz Boyz™, Telenova and Forever 80s™, and kids will have plenty of fun in the Essendon Fields Kids Activity Zone.
There are also a number of smaller events across the city including the Queens Park Triathlon, Lunar New Year celebrations and a Twilight Market at Debneys Park.
Moonee Valley Mayor Cr Samantha Byrne said the family-friendly festival is a great way to bring the community together.
“The Moonee Valley Festival is a celebration of all the things that make our city such a wonderful, vibrant place – our many cultures, diverse foods, arts, entertainment and getting active,” Cr Byrne said.
“There will be events and activations spread out across our city so we encourage you to get to as many as you can and experience the best of what Moonee Valley has to offer – and best of all it’s all free!
“We want our city to be connected, healthy and active, so what better way than to get out into your neighbourhood with your family or friends and celebrate where you live?”
