FIONA O’LOUGHLIN, returns to the 2019 comedy festival circuit with a brand-new show in FIONA O’LOUGHLIN ADDRESSES THE NATION which she’ll take to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, as well as the Perth and Sydney Comedy Festivals.
A festival favourite nation-wide, Fiona has always had the gun to her own head in her searingly honest brand of comedy – it’s no holds barred. Following hot on the blistering heels of her hit 2018 show Gap Year, Addresses The Nation is a completely new hour of stand up. In it Fiona decides it’s time to turn her weapon towards some other idiots, calling out where, what and who are full of the most bullshit in 2019.
Some of you will be overjoyed to hear what she has to say. Some of you will be ducking for cover. But EVERYONE will be laughing (WARNING: If you like Nicole Kidman, this show is NOT for you).
A late starter but with an award-winning career of almost 20 years, Fiona plays to packed houses in venues and festivals across the globe. Winner of Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s (MICF) Best Newcomer Award in 2001, her career has gone from strength to strength ever since.
5 MINUTES WITH FIONA O’LOUGHLIN:
How would you describe your show to someone who knew nothing about it?
My show is a live autopsy of the baby boomer.
What is its best quality?
It’s all true.
Why should people see it?
If there is one thing you would like to say to your fans, what is it?
What one thing might surprise us to learn about you?
I’m obsessed with American Politics. Literally can’t take my eyes off CNN. It’s like there’s an evil Homer Simpson in the White House.
Who has been the greatest influence in your career?
No one person but the MICF most definitely has shaped my career.
Who makes you laugh?
Akmal. Every time.
When did it become clear to you that comedy was your passion?
The minute I walked into the Star and Garter over thirty years ago.
What does comedy and entertainment mean to you?
I can’t imagine a world without Stand Up. It’s the love of my life.
What are 3 words that describe you.
Messy, Lazy. Funny.
As well as being a critically acclaimed stand-up comedian, Fiona O’Loughlin is an accomplished writer and TV presenter. She has appeared on shows including Sunrise (Seven), Studio 10 (10), Good News Week (10), Spicks and Specks (ABC), Dirty Laundry (ABC), Celebrity Apprentice (Nine), and the annual fundraising Melbourne International Comedy Festival Oxfam Gala on Ten countless times.
Don’t miss her unvarnished and hilarious honesty in 2019.
