The Melbourne International Comedy Festival will officially launch their 32nd year of laughs at the Forum Theatre on Monday 26 March 2018 between10:30am and 12:00pm, with Acting Lord Mayor Arron Wood and honourable The Hon. Martin Foley MP officially opening the Festival.

With more than 610 shows in over 100 venues and totaling more than 7,000 performances across 26 six days, it is the largest festival in Australia. Hosted by Lano and Woodley, with performances by Cal Wilson, Steph Tisdell and Spencer Jones the launch event will also include address by Chairman of the Board Bill Shannon.

The Festival was launched in 1987 by Barry Humphries and Peter Cook. Thirty-one festivals later, with attendances of up to 770,000, it has grown to be Australia’s largest cultural ticketed event. With an average ticket price of just $30, the Festival is not only a hugely popular event but an extremely accessible one. When the Melbourne Town Hall precinct is converted into a giant comedy hub, there is something for every comedy lover, from the very best local and international comedy acts in venues of all shapes and sizes.
