The winners of the 2016 Melbourne Fringe Festival Awards were announced on Saturday night as this year’s festival came to a close.

Awarded across three categories – genre, professional development and touring – the 2016 awards recognise the quality and diversity of work that made up the 2016 Festival.

The 2016 winners included:

Best Cabaret: The Vanishing Act

Best Circus: Sediment

Best Comedy: Sammy J – The Hero Complex

Best Dance: Emptying The Bucket

Best Kids: The Adventures Broer & Zus

Best Live Art: The internet is where innocence goes to die and you can come too

Best Music: Adam Page – Chairman of the Beard

Best Performance: Blind Spot, Dion (2 winners)

Best Venue: Hares and Hyenas

Best Visual Arts: I Never Painted My Dreams; I Painted My Reality

People’s Choice Award: A Prudent Man

Melbourne Fringe Living Legend Award: Rinske Ginsberg, former Chair of Melbourne Fringe
