After its spectacular debut with Hot Shoe Shuffle (starring Daryl Somers) and the sell-out success of cheeky Keating and sassy teen hit 13, Sydney’s freshest musical theatre company Birdie Productions is set to explode with more big name stars and more young talent in SEUSSICAL!

This bright and colourful musical will be bringing the magical characters of Dr Seuss to the stage in August 2016 at The Bryan Brown Theatre, Bankstown. And featuring in the leading roles will be Aria award-winning (and Logie nominated) iconic star of stage and screen ‘Yellow Wiggle’ SAM MORAN and captivating Matilda star (and Helpmann Award Best Actress nominee) BELLA THOMAS.

SEUSSICAL is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony Award winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff, My Favourite Year, Once On This Island, and Ragtime) have lovingly brought to life everyone’s favourite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie – and a little boy with a big imagination: Jojo. “Oh, the Thinks You Can Think” captures the show’s spirit of imagination, as the colourful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.

The story of SEUSSICAL centres around Horton the Elephant, who finds himself faced with a double challenge – not only must he protect his tiny friend Jojo (and all the invisible Whos) from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping – and even a trial – the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him; she is the only one who recognises “his kind and his powerful heart”. The powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged – and ultimately emerge triumphant – in a wonderful musical story that will make you laugh and cry.

In addition to Sam and Bella, SEUSSICAL stars Levi Burrows as Horton, Lauren Lofberg as Gertrude, Tanya Boyle as Mayzie, Michele Lansdown as Sour Kangaroo, Callan Moroney and Sally Redman as Mr and Mrs Mayor, Lauren Kessler, Chelsea Warner and Bonnie Kellet as Bad Girl, Noah Godsell, Teale Howie and Josh Ridge as Wickersham, Ray Basha as the Grinch, Teale Howie as General Schmidt and Izzy Tilden and Yertle the turtle! Plus Daniella Caruso, Isabella Compton, Josh Dormor, Emma Druett, Ash Edgecombe, Aoife Hughes, Ashleigh Judge, Lauren Nalty, Kate Orchard, Matilda Simmons and Katia Van Hilten in the ensemble
