The huge smash hit movie Legally Blonde is finally coming to Australia and what makes it even better it's coming to Sydney first!

I was lucky enough to attend the first day of rehearsals on Monday and got to speak to Cameron Daddo who will play Professor Callaghan and Helen Dallimore who will play Paulette. These two seasoned performers will also be joined by Robert 'Millsy' Mills as Warner, David Harris as Emmett, Erika Heynatz as Brooke Windham and the lovely lady that has captured the lead role as Elle Woods, Lucy Durack. Both Helen and Cameron expressed excitement at the first day of rehearsals to be working with such an experienced cast.

Just the cast alone makes it a knockout performance, after seeing a snippet from Lucy Durack.  It is also produced by John Frost who has many magnificent shows under his belt. The fact that it is having its Australian premiere in Sydney (finally beating Melbourne!) is a huge step up for NSW residents as a whole but especially Sydney. This is one of the first large scale productions recently that has come to Sydney first rather than Melbourne, unlike Hairspray, Fame and Wicked.

Jerry Mitchell who directed and was the creator of both the original production on Broadway in the United States and the production that is currently being staged on London's West End has finally brought it here. Rumour has it as well that he is currently working on an adaption of the movie Kinky Boots for those of you that are familiar with that. Who knows we may see it here eventually?

Seeing the stage marked out with the prop placement and to see the intricate detail that goes into those props – which range from Starbucks drinks to the salon hair dryers – shows how much effort, time and detail has gone into this production so far, and that what is to come is going to be out of this world.

"Legally Blonde" the Musical opens at the Lyric Theatre, The Star on the 20 of September, 2012 and tickets are still available from Ticketmaster starting at $69.90!
