Back by popular demand for three shows only, StageArt in association with The National Theatre in St Kilda, proudly announce the return of 2015’s most highly acclaimed production. In The Heights is part of both StageArt’s and The National Theatre exciting Season 2016 launching in November. StageArt’s full season launch on October 15 will include three premiere musicals and a subscription season, its biggest and boldest season yet.

A salsa and rap infused musical that challenges the stereotype of modern day musical theatre. Turn up the heat and get ready to feel the rhythm as this Broadway dance spectacular brings the Washington Heights neighbourhood back to the stage in 2016.

 

In a community where everyone knows your business, things are about to get a shake-up as romances bloom and dreams are challenged.  Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical, and Pulitzer Prize nominee, In The Heights is a fun and fresh hip-hop musical set in a sizzling summer filled with music and possibilities. featuring a groundbreaking score that mixes Latin and Hip Hop cultures with powerful Break Dancing, Latin American and Hip Hop dance styles and rapping.

 

Featuring members of the original smash-hit season including Steven Lopez (Underbelly, Fat Tony & Co, Neighbours); James Elmer (ABC 3, Studio 3 Host); Laura Marcucci (Mamma Mia); Francesca Arena (Cats, Fiddler On The Roof, Les Miserables); Anna Francesca Armenia (Dreamgirls); Peter Sette (National Hip Hop Champion); Gareth Jacobs (Dreamgirls); Clarence Marshall (Recording Artist); Bianca Bruce; and Sarah Calsina plus ensemble dancers Timothy Doherty and  Joshua Martin.

 

It also brings back together the talents of Director, James Cutler; Music Director, Cameron Thomas; and Executive Producers, Robbie Carmellotti and Katherine Armstrong. And re-staging Yvette Lee’s choreography will be iconic Melbourne Hip Hop dancer and choreographer Phill Haddad.

The return season runs at The National Theatre for 3 Shows only March 11 and 12, 2016.
