HIT Productions entered liquidation on December 22 2012 with debts totalling approx. $1.8 million. The Melbourne-based theatre company in Beaumaris is run by 54-year-old actor and producer of Motherhood The Musical, Christine Harris.

The company had received more than $800,000 in grants from the Federal Government since December 2010, and at the time of going into liquidation, owed the Australian Taxation Office almost $700,000.

The company specialised in taking theatrical productions to the suburbs and regional Australia, and has been a frequent recipient of arts grants through state and federal regional touring programs.

In light of the above however, the show must go on and the very day after HIT Productions was placed into liquidation, Ms Harris registered a new company – HIT Productions Pty Ltd. With a full roster of shows scheduled for 2013, partly funded by a $150,000 grant from the Victorian Government last July, it seems all is not over for this beloved theatre company quite yet.
