University of Melbourne Faculty of Fine Arts and Music MSPACE program for 2019.
For those with a passion for the performing arts and looking to further develop their skills through studying, then the University of Melbourne has the perfect option for you. Offering both the Acting Studio and Musical Theatre Studio in 2019. Both courses run for the duration of a year and are part time, giving you the flexibility to still work, study and carry on with other personal requirements.
Acting Studio Company of 2019:
Become a part of the Victorian College of the Arts and immerse yourself in live theatre at the extraordinary Southbank arts precinct. Working in the purpose built VCA Theatre gives performers the chance to develop fundamental performance skills and is modelled on VCA Theatre’s Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting). The course itself includes voice technique, solo and ensemble skills, improvisation and impulse work, devised performance, approaches to text, scene analysis and character development and acting to camera. It is designed to strengthen and stretch your physical and creativity capabilities guided by a team of professional acts, practising educators and industry professionals.
Participants can choose from two possible time slots:
Monday & Wednesday evenings

6.30pm – 9.30pm (excluding public holidays and breaks)

10.30am – 4.30pm (excluding public holidays and breaks)

Music Theatre Studio 2019
This course is designed for those whose passion lies in the high energy singing and dancing world of music theatre. Based on the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Music Theatre) course it is structured, practical, studio-based training. Learning from highly experienced tutors students gain professional insight and knowledge whilst developing their skills as a triple threat. This course includes, immersive triple threat training, classes in singing, dancing and acting, a supportive group environment and skill development. During the course students will have the chance to work with the likes of Phoebe Panaretos (Strictly Ballroom, Dream Lover, American Idiot), David Butler (Laugh Out Loud, Die Fledermaus, Carmen) and Trent Baker (Managing Carmen, It’s my party and I’ll die if I want to)
Please note this course is suitable for 15-20 years olds.
February- November 2019 (excluding public holidays and breaks)
Entry to this course is via audition only, which will be held on Saturday 2 February 2019.
A non-refundable $30 audition fee will be charged.
Auditionees must be available to attend 2.5 hour group audition between 9.30am and 5pm. No specific audition preparation is necessary.
Exact auditions will be confirmed by Wednesday 23 January 2019.
Some experience in singing, dancing or acting is recommended, though not necessary.
