More than 130 outstanding musicians and singers will come together next week for a gala performance of Mozart’s Requiem, one of the world’s most treasured classical pieces.

Maestro Christian Badea will return to Melbourne to conduct the renowned and constantly in demand musicians of Orchestra Victoria. Orchestra Victoria accompanies State Theatre performances of Opera Australia, Australian Ballet and The Production Company, as well as maintaining a bust schedule of concerts and appearances.

A terrific set of principal singers have been gathered from the ranks of Opera Australia. Soprano Lorina Gore (The Pearlfishers, The Magic Flute) will be joined by Mezzo Soprano Dominica Matthews (The Mikado, The Barber of Seville). Henry Choo (The Pearlfishers, The Merry Widow) will sing the tenor line, with Richard Alexander (The Mikado, The Love of the Nightingale) as bass.

Chorus Master Andrew Wailes will prepare the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir for the stunning choral components of Mozart’s magnificent final work.

Mozart’s Requiem will be performed at Elisabeth Murdoch Hall, Melbourne Recital Centre at 7.30pm on Tuesday 24 July 2012.
