The company’s genesis lay in the hands of those founding members who decided to make a break from their associated company STAG and form their own theatre company.  The first etc committee meeting was held on September 19, 1976  with that year also heralding the first production under the new banner – 3 One Act plays and a melodrama Cinderella were the offerings of that fledging year.

ETC has some very committed and proud members confirms Eileen Bentley President: "(etc) is a local not for profit, community-based organization that is run on the love and commitment of passionate theatre lovers and volunteers dedicated to amateur theatre.  On average our shows attract 400 people per production season, and is steadily growing. Also, we have many members of the community signed up to be on etc’s mailing list."
