Drama With A Difference is one of Australia’s leading, independent drama schools. With a history that spans more than twenty years, it is the launching pad of many successful Australian actors. Many of these actors started at the school as children, where we were able to assist them in getting their first professional acting roles. Our students have appeared in major and guest roles in a host of well-known feature films, television series and theatre shows.
While our classes are great for budding young actors, we are equally committed to teaching drama to children for recreational purposes. Drama is good for all children, regardless of whether they want to be actors or not. It promotes healthy self-esteem and confidence, and is ideal for shyer children who wish to become more outgoing. So, whatever your reason for thinking about drama for your child, our school is inclusive, non-competitive and provides a safe and nurturing space for kids to explore their creativity.
Kids classes run weekly for two hours. There is one on Saturday morning in Clifton Hill from 9am – 11am and another on Wednesday from Kew from 4pm – 6pm.
Students learn improvisation, character work, movement for actors, voice work and script work. Often the kids are involved in devising their own scripts, and we hold performances at various times throughout the year.
Classes resume again at the end of January 2017, and enrolments are now open. Spaces are limited, so early booking is advised.
